Intercontinental Boston's RumBa is a rum-themed specialty bar celebrating Boston's historic rum trade. The pewter bar displays an exclusive collection of vintage rums showcased on recessed shelves, back lit, to reflect its warm and inviting colors. RumBa features a cut block mesquite wood floor, a Venetian plaster ceiling, and two plasma screen TV's. Rumba is a great place for an after dinner cocktail or latte and on the night we were there (Thursday night) it got fairly hoppin'.
The mysterious Champagne Bar, with its hidden "Moulin Rouge" theme, emanates deep reds, burgundies and cabaret colors. This bar is private, secluded and only accessible through sliding mahogany wooden doors.

Located at the Intercontinental Boston. 'Innovative sushi menu with the latest twist on pairing sushi with vintage tequila, margaritas, and martinis.' Add in rhythmic blends of Salsa, Kumbia and Merengue and you have the sassiest cross-cultural hang-out in downtown Boston.
The menu is pretty limited and the choices are not really unique. The fish is fresh and well prepared, though, so even if its not that unique, its good sushi. There's not really any 'fusion' food on the menu. But it does mix margaritas and sushi. A list of nearly 70 tequilas can be enjoyed straight, with many vinatge cocktails and margaritas available as well. Between that and the view, it's an interesting, posh spot that's definitely different if that's what you're into, but not so much a keeper. Every Tuesday during the summer, tequila tastings from 6-9 pm

There are plenty of seats if you decide to eat in. They have regular submarine style sandwiches as well as daily specials like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, baked ziti, chicken and broccoli, etc. They also serve breakfast all day, get two eggs, toast and home fries for $2.75. Everything on the menu is more than reasonably priced (a cheeseburger runs $2.99) and is prepared fresh to order. The helpings are more than generous, and the service is prompt and efficient; it's rare that you're ever waiting more than 10 - 15 minutes for a call-in order. Most fare is in the $4-6 range. The staff are also super friendly.

In the shadow of the now defunct and much sketchier Martin's Townhouse is Biddy Early's, a divey financial district standby with a diverse clientele. Totally dependent on the office lunch and after-work crowd (they close on weekend evenings) Biddy's offers good service and good value. Step inside on the lunchbreak rush and you will notice that the bar is packed with various people, like bikers to verizon union workers to businessmen. The bartender, Neimh is awsome. She is at the top of her game everyday. Never forgeting about anyone, even when the house is packed!! An upscale dive with buckets of beer at $15 for 5 bottles, Juke box, decent food at lunch and dinner.

It is about as "authentic Italian" as take out food gets. The prices are surprisingly low (they make up for it in volume between 12-1. The line is unbelievable, though don't be afraid. It moves very quickly). A killer sandwich on really good focaccia (or baguette or in a wrap) will run you no higher than 6 bucks (no higher than 7 if you are getting a steak-based sandwich). A slice of pizza is 3 bucks, and they have different kinds every day. They have 2-3 different pasta specials every day that are for the most part out of this world. The Pasta Primavera on Wednesdays, and the Chicken Broccoli on Fridays are absolutely phenomenal. I cannot speak highly enough of the staff here. They all work very hard, make great sandwiches, are patient with customers, and are generally extremely nice. I have never had anything but positive interactions with any/all of them.

Sandwiches are pricey here, but the hot entrees come with salad and are actually a pretty good deal for a "real lunch." Also a selection of fruit, yogurt, and really, really good cakes. This Rebecca's is sort of small but does have some good seating to watch the passersby on High Street.
