In business since 1976, Liberty Bell is a great South Boston restaurant that offers in restaurant dining as well as catering. Though a Mexican restaurant may seem out of place down in South Boston, don't go telling that to owner David Littlefield. Littlefield; more famously known as Fenway mainstay "The Sausage Guy"; had an interest in bringing a different flavor of food to the neighborhood (as odd as the location choice might've seemed). And it's the Sausage Guy's love of Mexican food, combined with his knack for friendly and fun service, that helped make Salsa's Mexican Grill the local favorite it is today, and one of the best Mexican restaurants in Boston. Salsa’s head chef and Mexican native Maria Cidello brings her love of cooking full force to the Salsa's kitchen, combining classic Mexican recipes with a creative flair. The menu offers up an assortment of traditional Mexican fare, including burritos, tacos, quesadillas, enchiladas and perhaps most popular, their mouth-watering fajitas. The menu also features many specialty dishes such as Chile en Nogada (Poblano peppers stuffed with ground beef, almonds, raisins, apples and honey) and Albondigas (A Mexican meatloaf of ground beef, ham, spices & garlic topped with a special tomato, orange and Chipotle pepper salsa). It's nothing fancy. Just a small little storefront on the corner right across from the Andrew Square T stop. But they make a good, no-frills neighborhood pizza here. Good sauce - kinda sweet and just right. This is definitely a takeout or delivery place, since there are only a few little tables inside.

Terrie's Place is a hometown diner located deep in Southie, that also offers catering services. With over 150 dishes on the menu, it has something for everyone. In true South Boston tradition, there is an evident Irish influence, including at least six variations of eggs benedict. Particularly great are the hollandaise, poached eggs, ham, Canadian bacon, and English muffins, along with corned beef hash, Irish bacon, spinach, and sausage. Try the great banana nut French toast. The old-fashioned environment includes green vinyl booths and counter stools and a great collection of unusual coffee mugs.

IMHO this place has the best regular, 'old school' cheese pizza in Boston.

Cheap beer and darts. Lots of Irish expats here, this is a real Irish pub, so you could listen to people talk all day.
